MECATE ROPE

TO ABOSAL

HOW TO KNOT THE MECATE ROPE TO THE BOSAL

1. Place the end of the mecate (with the tassel) through the “V” of the bosal, as shown on picture.

Note : tassel should come out at the bottom of the bosal

2. Wrap the long end of the mecate rope around the knot

3. Wrap 2 or 3 times, depending on the size of the horse’s head

4. Pull the long end through the bosal to form the reins (as long as neccessary)

5. Keep the mecate tail end (with the leather popper) to the right

6. Make 1 final wrap around the bosal

7. Keep the mecate end to the right again

8. Take the tail end and pull it through the final wrap to secure the reins and to form the lead rope

9. Pull tight

10. The reins should come out at the top and the lead rope and tassel should come out at the bottom of the bosal
